The First Ever Omnichain Domain Release for Injective and Solana

February 15, 2024

The first ever omnichain domain name service has officially launched on mainnet, vastly enhancing cross-chain user experience across Solana and Injective. In addition the most popular Solana wallet, Phantom, is also integrated into the Injective ecosystem, enabling further connectivity with Solana. The processes outlined above are all handled on the backend, so someone is able to enter Injective, register a domain or bridge in their existing domain from Solana. The steps below will outline how you can begin your omnichain domain experience on Injective! The first ever omnichain domain name service has officially launched on mainnet, vastly enhancing cross-chain user experience across Solana and Injective. Starting now, users can transact across Solana and Injective using the same domain, further unifying the two ecosystems.

Users can utilize INJ in order to attain .sol domains, use the same domain across Solana dApps and bridge in their .sol domains onto Injective as well. In addition the most popular Solana wallet, Phantom, is also integrated into the Injective ecosystem, enabling further connectivity with Solana. Phantom can now be utilized to access major products such as the Injective Hub alongside popular dApps on Injective such as Helix and Mito.

What Does This Integration Entail?

Building a cross-chain name service is an unprecedented innovation in the blockchain space. The initial effort began nearly a year ago to better unify the two fastest chains in all of crypto today, Solana and Injective.

A testnet was launched towards the end of last year with Bonfida after which the entire process was rigorously monitored and stress tested. Under the hood, the actual build for the omnichain domain is quite complex. This is of course uncharted waters that no one has dared cross before. It included the development of a sophisticated two way messenger, via which SNS transactions can be initiated on Injective, verified on Solana and travel back to Injective. The beauty herein is that no form of wrapping or additional UX hurdle is introduced as is typical for bridging today.

As a result, true interoperability between two of the largest network states in existence today is achieved whereby a user can seamlessly hop between the Solana and Injective ecosystem without any additional complexity.

Users from Solana can now onboard onto Injective much more easily than any other L1. The processes outlined above are all handled on the backend, so someone is able to enter Injective, register a domain or bridge in their existing domain from Solana. They, of course, can now enjoy the same wallets on Injective as on Solana such as Phantom.

The developer experience between Injective and Solana will also be unified further this year with the launch of inSVM, the world's first ever Solana focused rollup.

How Can You Register a .sol domain on Injective?

The steps below will outline how you can begin your omnichain domain experience on Injective!

2. Search for your desired domain and select “Register” to continue.

3. The registration process takes a few minutes to complete. All payments are made in INJ.

4. Your domain has been successfully registered!

5. Next, you can view your domain by clicking on the wallet address on the top right-hand corner.
