  • Lead Automatic transmission Torque Converter and Hybrid Damper design efforts to optimize current designs, improve shift quality and address warranty issues.
  • Lead consistent technical Torque Converter and Damper design methodology across all Automatic transmission and Hybrid Systems families (internally made and purchased)
  • Direct CAE / CFD analysts/experts in development of advanced Torque Converter and Damper modeling capabilities, and validation of model results.
  • Develop technical points of view regarding Torque Converter and Damper functions which support business implementation of designs/technologies and make recommendations to industrialize
  • Participate in Pre-Program Transmission Torque Converter and Damper Architecture Evaluation (Partner with Research and Lead Department Point- of View)
  • Initiate and lead new knowledge generation directly applicable to Torque Converter and Damper architecture, support attribute and Research led projects
  • Support Torque Converter and Damper design/development enterprise wide
  • Evaluate product efficiency improvement and alternatives for merit and applicability
  • Lead and approve Core Torque Converter and Damper System Quality Documents (DFMEA, Boundary, P-dia., RRCL, RDM) as developed by EPD&V team, ensure discipline and accuracy across department
  • Support root cause identification and issue resolution for significant plant & field issues for automatic transmissions and Hybrid systems.
  • Understand and monitor the Early warranty and Warranty trends for systematic Torque Converter and Damper issues across all architectures.
  • Support department benchmarking of the competitive landscape and what it takes to outpace the competition in Torque Converter / Damper design space.
  • Establish the methodology to communicate Torque Converter and Hybrid Damper design efficiency (Energy efficient, Cost Efficient, Weight Efficient)
  • Maintain benchmarking summary meaningful summary, with resource support /representatives from systems teams
  • Responsibilities

    Lead Automatic transmission Torque Converter and Hybrid Damper design efforts to optimize current designs, improve shift quality and address warranty issues.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 - 10 years of leadership experience
  • 7 Years Torque Converter and Damper Design experience

  • DMF / Hybrid Damper Design knowledge and performance requirments
  • Solid knowledge of GPDS/ program management process, including key delivery dates along with the ability to develop plans for global markets
  • Team player able to work well across functions
  • Proven track record of delivering complex projects
  • Self-Starter capable of establishing new design/analytical processes and delivering results
  • Strong oral and written communications skills, with ability to present to higher levels of management
  • Extensive experience leading, coaching, and teaching teams of engineers and developing training courses as required.
