We are looking for a Technical Product Manager to join our Ford Technology Team who has a strong background in a mixture of software delivery and product management and can combine software engineering and systems engineering to ensure that a software system is available, scalable, and maintainable. Having knowledge of Ford Internal IT Systems with business domain knowledge to support critical eCommerce programs which is one of the top 3 priorities at the organization level will be beneficial.

Responsibilities

As Technical Product Manager - SRE managing a large, distributed application built on microservices, Spring Boot, and Google Cloud may include:

Product Management Duties:

  • Focus on the reliability and maintainability of existing and new systems.
  • Collaborate with business product owners to develop prioritized functional business requirements
  • Deliver process design and information flow supporting functional work streams
  • Review technical design, and provide Ford-specific support to system integrators
  • Work with product owners to identify project business value and associated metrics
  • Drive and challenge product owners on their assumptions and prioritizations of business value
  • Collaborate with system integrators, Ford IT, and Business teams and meet the enterprise objectives
  • Run the production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health
  • Site Reliability Duties:

  • Developing, improving, and operating the deployment and orchestration of a complex distributed system
  • Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of software solutions.
  • Collaborating with development teams to design, build, and operate scalable and resilient software systems.
  • Automating deployment, monitoring, and incident response processes
  • Qualifications

    The minimum requirements we seek:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of progressive responsibilities within technology and software functions such as software engineering/development, software/application delivery, product delivery, and/or product management
  • Proven track record in making delivery commitments, managing customer expectations, and delivering on commitments.
  • Our preferred qualifications:

  • Advance Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Proven experience defining the product vision, strategy, product roadmaps, and crafting and managing backlogs
  • Previous success in product delivery working within an Agile development team.
  • Strong background in software development and systems administration, as well as excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices platforms
  • Working knowledge of the TCP/IP stack, internet routing and load balancing
  • Experience with product & development teams to establish error budgets by identifying the right SLOs (Service level objective), SLIs (Service level indicators), and KPIs (Key performance indicators) and effectively drive the use of the budget to ensure maximum domain availability/uptime.
  • Debug production issues across services and levels of the stack.
  • Thorough understanding of software development cycle and agile programming environment.
  • Architect, design & develop automation to reduce toil and improve recoverability, availability, latency & scalability of supported applications.
  • Triage, analyze, and provide solutions to critical & high-priority technical issues occurring in the ecosystem, and optimize incident management processes.
  • Respond, react & communicate as per the ITSM incident management process. This process involves detection of the incident, timely communication to leadership during the life of the incident, and service restoration, followed by root cause analysis to prevent the incident from occurring in the future.
  • Practice destructive testing for discovering vulnerabilities in environments powered by Distributed software systems.
  • 5+ years' experience with JAVA, J2EE, NoSQL/SQL Datastore, Spring Boot, GCP/AWS/Azure & Docker/K8 in developing multi-tier applications.
  • 2 + years of programming skills (Perl, Python, Ruby, Java/Scala or C).
  • 2-3 Years of experience with any of APM and other monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, New Relic, ELK, Splunk, Prometheus, Sensu, Nagios, Kafka, DataDog, PagerDuty.
