Job Description

Ford Model E is responsible for developing the key technologies and capabilities - such as EV platforms, batteries, e-motors, inverters, charging and recycling - to create ground-up, breakthrough electric vehicles. The Embedded Hardware Integration Engineer will be responsible for complete end to end integration and bring-up of hardware modules designed by the team. The engineer will be able to participate in system & component level design activities for the various hardware modules & subsystems such as powertrain, thermal, body controls, etc. You will be the point person for everything that is controls software on this platform and lead the bring-up activities in each of the vehicle builds. You will be part of the team that will Conceptualize, Design, Engineer, Develop and support the launch of next generation Vehicle Platform Architectures for electric vehicles at Ford.

Responsibilities

What you'll be able to do:

Lead the integration efforts and board bring-up for embedded hardware on various test assets such as benches, lab-cars and prototype vehicles

Build and report the bring-up and hardware integration progress & maturity

Develop test strategies and design of experiments to test full functionality of prototype

hardware modules

Interface with the rest of Systems Integration team & cross-functional teams to identify changes

in device peripherals and lead the characterization efforts on hardware modules

Orchestrate the hardware integration activities on various test assets and collaborate with the

hardware team in identifying gaps in the designs by debugging board level issues

Collaborate with the software team and help with their integration efforts as they mature

software functions and features

Support architectural investigations for cost efficiency by running tests/experiments and

prototyping quick solutions for testing

Participate in architectural and software technical discussions and develop technical solutions

while representing the program team

Qualifications

The minimum requirements we seek:

B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer or Software Engineering

Strong Electrical and Embedded Systems Engineering fundamentals

5+ years of experience working on hardware design, board bring-up and hardware integration

5+ years of experience with Vehicle Network Protocols such as CAN, LIN & Automotive Ethernet

Experience and working knowledge of systems development, vehicle architecture, battery

technologies, software/hardware tool development, motor calibration technologies, OBD

calibration, functional safety, network and diagnostics process.

3+ years of experience using embedded networking interface tools for automotive, aerospace or

similar

Experience with electrical debugging of PCB Assemblies, including the ability to read electrical

schematics

Experience writing test plans and procedures and providing go/no-go judgment

Preferred Requirements :

M.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer or Software Engineering

Proven technical expertise in powertrain/thermal/ADAS/Body controls Systems Design and

understanding of the intricacies of the subsystem

Proficiency in fundamentals of vehicle architecture, embedded systems design, RTOSes and real-

time networking

Able to read/debug code, familiar with Git, Jira and software development lifecycle

Experience in instrumenting sensors systems and using data acquisition tools for analysis

Experience in leading product development from concept to deployment

Strong written and verbal communication skills

An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high

performing team

A systems approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for

exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement
