Job Description

We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves and build a better world -- together. At Ford, we're all a part of something bigger than ourselves. What will you make today?

Enterprise Technology plays a critical part in shaping the future of mobility. If you're looking for the chance to leverage advanced technology to redefine the transportation landscape, enhance the customer experience, and improve people's lives, this is the opportunity for you. Join us and challenge your IT expertise and analytical skills to help create vehicles that are as smart as you are.

The Ford Pro Digital & UX team seeks a high-impact and versatile UX Designer to join our Design System team. If you're a systems-thinker excited to work on significant, meaningful, and complex problems with real-world impact, help us make Ford Pro the best experience for our customers! This is an incredible opportunity to join at ground level, and work on a remarkable team to envision a world-class and scalable design system.

You must be an accomplished designer with design experience across both UX and creative. You'll collaborate with product managers, engineers, researchers, content strategists, and other designers to create reusable frameworks that support speed and innovation toward a stellar end-user experience. In this role, you can impact the entirety of Ford Pro's digital experience and help accelerate productivity for a commercial audience being offered the leading edge in automotive technology and support.

At the core, we are a customer-focused team that encourages a diverse & inclusive culture. We are respectful, collaborative, and accountable and approach work with a fun, positive attitude. The right candidate can expect to have opportunities for career growth and development.

Responsibilities

What you'll do

  • Effectively incorporate and adapt brand guidelines into the design system, ensuring a cohesive and consistent brand experience.
  • Define and specify new components and patterns for the design system that enhance the design system's capabilities.
  • Provide detailed design specs for existing components ensuring consistency and accuracy.
  • Lead, contribute, and guide the team to develop, curate, and enhance the design system's guidelines, governance, and documentation.
  • Explore new variants for existing components based on product team feedback.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including UX design, development, and product management.
  • Connect and collaborate with product teams consuming the system and provide them support by facilitating office hours, workshops, or other engagements.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in the face of rapidly shifting priorities and occasional project ambiguity. The ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in ambiguous situations is crucial.
  • Qualifications

    You'll have

  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in digital and software design.
  • 1+ year of experience with leading and coaching UX designers (directly or indirectly) by demonstrating standard methodologies in design communication and approaches, mentorship, and sharing your work and knowledge with others.
  • Even better you may have

  • Strong knowledge of Interaction Design, Service Design, Design Research, Information Architecture, and /or UX.
  • Demonstrable expertise in UX design in all phases across a variety of projects.
  • Possess a keen eye for aesthetics and an understanding of the relationship between design decisions and their impact on a systems-level scale. Strong knowledge of typography, spacing, and color as they relate to information hierarchies.
  • Ability to lead and be independent, but also collaborate and communicate effectively across multiple audiences.
  • Experience delivering projects from definition through execution and refinement.
  • Proven track record of building consensus, influence, and work effectively within a cross-functional team of designers, product managers, and engineers. Experience with building relationships, credibility, and proactive communication with team members and leaders.
  • Ability to communicate the value of product features and identify trade- offs to deliver useful digital products.
  • Proven experience in combining quantitative and qualitative data to inform design decisions.
  • Understanding of translation of business metrics to inform goals of user- centric design.
  • Flexibility to work on initiatives with unclear and/or changing requirements. Strong project management, problem-solving, verbal/written communication, and context switching skills.
  • High-level knowledge of design tools such as Figma, Zero Height, and/or other design and prototyping software.
  • Comfortable with HTML/CSS/Basic Markup with a bias towards prototyping: Proficiency in front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, and basic markup is preferred, with an emphasis on prototyping skills.
  • Passion for the automotive, transportation and fleet management industry.
  • You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!
