To strengthen the Enterprise Integrations team, we are looking for an Senior Software Engineer with a platform engineering background, who can help set up scalable infrastructure for application deployment and also improve the reliability, security and durability of deployed artifacts. The Senior Software Engineer for platform engineering will partner with integration developers to write high quality application and infrastructure code, as required by Coinbase business teams.

What you'll be doing (ie. job duties):

Scalable Infrastructure Design and Configuration: Configuration and management of Kubernetes clusters on AWS using Amazon EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service) to provision EC2 instances for application deployment.

Infrastructure Components Setup: Install infra components and third- party software on-prem & establish connectivity with hosted apps (e.g. Workato, Forge, Salesforce etc.) for enterprise integrations and automation.

Application Development: Use programming languages such as Python, AWS Lambda or GoLang to write high quality software code and unit tests to meet critical business requirements. Also write Linux shell scripts to automate using cron jobs.

Application Deployment Automation: Develop scripts for codification using tools such as Terraform, AWS Cloudformation and AWS CLI to automate provisioning, deployment, and scaling of infrastructure resources.

Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Setup pipelines for automated deployment, testing, and integration of applications using tools like GitHub, BuildKite, Jekins, BugSnag etc.

Monitoring and Performance Optimization: Setup observability tools (e.g. Datadog, AWS CloudWatch) to track system, network and application performance as well as setup perf testing infrastructure (with JMeter) to optimize application performance and cost.

Troubleshooting and Debugging: Resolve issues related to infrastructure, network connectivity, services running on AWS, and provide technical support to teams when problems arise.

Documentation and Knowledge Transition: Collaborate with cross- functional teams, documenting configurations, processes, and procedures related to AWS infrastructure and services.

Capacity Planning and Scaling: Analyze workload requirements and planning for capacity needs, scaling resources up or down as necessary to meet demand.

Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices, setting up access controls, encryption, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

Expertise in AWS infra components (EC2, EKS, IAM, ELBs/ALBs) to set-up reliable, secure and scalable deployment infrastructure.

Experience deploying software components e.g. on-prem software agents connecting, and private links to cloud apps like Snowflake, Kafka, Jira.

Excellent Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, AWS Lambda, Unix Shell Script or GoLang.

Ability to diagnose performance bottlenecks and right size or fine-tune production environments to maximize CPU & Memory utilization.

Knowledge or experience standing up performance test environments for enterprise apps to enable execution of high volume data (10M+).

Excellent communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams i.e. business stakeholders, infrastructure and security.

Passionate about technology, with an interest to learn new engineering trends and tools and evangelize with the broader team.

Nice to haves:

AWS DevOps Engineering Certifications

Experience with iPaaS Technologies (Workato, MuleSoft, Boomi etc.)

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual salary for this position can range as detailed below. Full time offers from Coinbase also include target bonus + target equity + benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)).

Pay Range:

$162,350—$191,000 USD
