About the team + role

Robinhood Derivatives (RHD) is Robinhood's newly formed entity that focuses on futures, event contracts, and options on futures. Our operations and trading team will help coordinate and lead business operations and internal functions for this entity to ensure a successful setup, launch, and opportunity to scale.

As the Senior Director & COO of RHD, you will be responsible for managing the operations to support derivatives trading. This includes managing third party relationships to support execution and clearing as well managing the integration of these capabilities. This role will work closely with all necessary enterprise functions including CX, Legal, Engineering, Financial Crimes, Finance, and Customer Trust and Safety to meet clients needs and expectations.

This role is based in our Chicago, IL office.

What you'll do
  • Manage and lead the day to day operations of Robinhood's derivative offering to ensure the business meets all regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Own and develop derivative trading initiatives for active traders, including crafting documentation and setting requirements to be used as the source of truth for cross-functional partners.
  • Create and expand a customer facing education program to introduce derivatives to our customer platform, ensuring a compliant and mission- aligned approach.
  • Develop and own relationships with liquidity providers and exchanges to build and enhance retail products such as Futures and FX.
  • Work with product and engineering partners, translating business and regulatory requirements for derivative products for design and technical implementation.
  • Act as a key partner with Compliance and internal partners to develop, document and maintain processes and WSPs
  • Manage 3rd party vendors supporting the execution and clearing of derivative products.
  • Maintain a keen understanding and awareness of the marketing including, but not limited to, futures, forex and virtual currency business model, product offerings, regulatory environment and policy infrastructure.
  • Drive results and foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain and continue building a culture of operational excellence that is centered around delivering a delightful customer experience while maintaining compliance with regulatory rules.
  • Eventually hire and develop a small team to evolve and scale the Futures business.
  • What you bring
  • A demonstrated history of operational excellence and problem solving within derivatives (options, futures, FX, etc.).
  • Industry experience working with 3rd party vendors and exchanges within the financial services industry.
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills to work with colleagues across the company to quickly resolve issues and develop long term strategies to insure a great customer experience.
  • Ability to critically analyze issues and develop solutions in a timely manner.
  • Strong leadership, communication, time management, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • 15+ years of experience in financial services or broker dealer
  • FINRA Series 3, 34, 7 and 24

  • The expected salary range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. This role is also eligible to participate in a Robinhood bonus plan and Robinhood's equity plan.

    US Zone 1: $255000 - $300000 US Zone 2: $224000 - $264000 US Zone 3: $199000 - $234000

    Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. You can view comp zones for our US office locations in the table below. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.
