Our Santa Cruz, CA facility has an immediate opening for a Project Engineer who will be involved in the day-to-day activities of ordnance production operations.
This position is anticipated to remain in our Santa Cruz, CA facility until Q3, 2024. At that point in time the work will be moved to other facilities across the country. We are committed to the work that needs to be done in Santa Cruz in between now and then. This position may be eligible for a retention incentive plan. The hiring leader in charge of this role will be able to share more specific information tied to the move of this position during the interview process.
The Santa Cruz facility provides ordnance items for both the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) program and the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) program.
Summary of Key Duties for this position: - Support the editing and release of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Manufacturing Procedures (MP) and other local Santa Cruz Command Media such as Job Instructions and Job Guides. Santa Cruz is quite unique as the Navy Safety Manual NAVSEA OP5 and Contractor's Safety Manual DoD 4145.26M drive specific criteria for safety and procedures more than traditional LM Command Media (CIPS). Much of this local command media needs to be cross-checked and updated to reflect CIPS requirements as well as other driving requirements to stay up to date. This requires a cycle of annual reviews of all documents and communication with affected departments to ensure compliance is driven down to the workforce through the leaders. - Support the shop technicians to make sure they have the correct training, right materials, accurate procedures, and properly working tools to perform their job. - Coordinate Knowledge Continuity Program at SCF to ensure critical program and dept documentation is gathered and formally documented to provide clear guidance on processes at the final transition locations (Valley Forge and Courtland). - Assist QA with tracking Corrective Actions (CA) from various audits performed in SCF. Items to be tracked as part of documenting changes made as part of the CAs and how they flow from leaders to employee learning. - Assist QA with self-inspection business rhythm and ensuring actions are "closed loop" and activities are tracked to closure and documented with rigor to ensure effective CA. - Perform activities in a variety of cross-functional areas including production planning and control, total quality management, systems, manufacturing, equipment and facilities engineering, material management, and process reengineering. - Assist the Shop Supervisors, Manufacturing Engineers, Certified Test Conductors and Area Managers prioritization of work and supporting documentation needs. - Manage the Santa Cruz (SCF) document repository on the local Sharepoint website to maintain Configuration Management and release the local documents, so all areas of production can access one set of documents for their proper work instructions. - Coordinate for Functional Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FFMEA) for safety reviews for equipment and processes used in production. - As needed, use SAP and VE-CAMS software to ensure production orders are released as necessary and proper materials are available. - As needed, assist in the release of documents in EPDM (Windchill) website in coordination with the Configuration Analyst group in SV or Denver. - Assist Area Managers/Admin with maintaining the training records - Assist with facilitating Root Cause Analyses and provide guidance related to requirements. Basic Qualifications: - General assembly and test experience. - Ability to work well in a team and able to provide direction to personnel on operational type issues. - Experience with writing and following written work instructions. - Experience with Microsoft Office suite products. - Ability to coordinate work with a unionized hourly workforce. - Ability to consult with Environmental Safety and Health (ESH) and provide guidance on Safety Concerns in Production Areas and ability to coordinate changes into local documentation. - Experience with hosting group activities such as Root Cause Analyses, Value Stream Mapping, Structured Improvement Activities - Experience with tracking corrective actions from various parties to closure and documenting incremental milestones and accomplishments. - Experience with providing learning plans and/or curriculum as part of how training of requirements are linked. - Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance. Desired Skills: - Familiarization with Ordnance handling and fabrication. - Experience with tooling design or inspection gauges. - Experience with 3D modeling software and hardware design. - Experience with SAP and VE-CAMS software. - Attention to detail and able to follow tasks through to closure. - Experience with troubleshooting pneumatic machines and other automated manufacturing machines. - Experience interpreting engineering drawings. - Experience with leading small teams to common schedules. - Experience with tracking equipment calibration and consumable material expirations used in production. - Experience creating tables and procedures. - Experience with computer skills using web-based databases and documentation revision controls. - Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively within large groups while presenting data. - Demonstrate a Safety oriented mindset. - Vast Knowledge of LM Six Sigma Principles (Black Belt level). - Ability to assist with audits utilizing AS9100 Quality Management System and DCMA Requirements. Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process. Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
