Join Robinhood's mission to democratize finance for all!

Robinhood was founded on a simple idea: that our financial markets should be accessible to all. With customers at the heart of our decisions, Robinhood is lowering barriers and providing greater access to financial information. Together with our business partners, we are building products and services that help create a financial system everyone can participate in.

As we continue to build...

We're seeking full-time support from curious thinkers looking to co-author the next chapters of our story. Our intent is to set up a successful site long- term in Canada to support Robinhood's U.S. operations. While we are exploring this possibility, join our third party employer of record and help shape our vision, structures and systems. You will play a key-role as we launch into our ambitious future.

About the team + role

Canadian-based software developers will be employed by a local employer of record providing competitive pay and benefits, and engaged to support Robinhood's U.S. operations, which build and own backend services and infrastructure that power our core U.S. financial products. Developers supporting RH's operations gain a unique look into how the U.S. financial systems work on the inside and strengthen their financial-domain knowledge. We strive for a high standard of engineering quality while solving unique scalability challenges. These Senior Software Developers support high-priority initiatives.

We are only interested in candidates available for full-time roles.

Robinhood is looking for a privacy professional who is passionate about preserving the privacy of sensitive customer and employee data.

This role will work with teams across Robinhood to ensure our products and services adhere to privacy preserving principles by designing architectures, tools, and features that make Robinhood's data collection, storage and processing safe and secure throughout the data lifecycle.

You will be the technical advocate for data privacy recommendations, designs, and discussions. You will not only design and operate various privacy preserving processes and controls, but will have a hands-on responsibility for responding to privacy-related events, giving you an opportunity to guide improvements for the future.

What we expect you'll do day-to-day:
  • Design, implement, perform, and measure efficacy of privacy preserving processes and controls related to data subject rights, access management, and data deletion
  • Leverage existing tooling and solutions to design alerting and facilitate downstream routing / investigative and escalation workflows related to findings, incidents, and potential non-compliance
  • Partner with Data Privacy and Security Architects to perform impact assessments against new products and features to ensure our data collection, storage, and processing practices adhere to internal policies and minimize risk
  • Partner with, and act as a bridge between, technical and non-technical teams, including Engineering, Product, Compliance, and Legal to ensure privacy requirements are well understood and implemented
  • Advocate for data governance, privacy, and security solutions and identify innovative opportunities to advance our posture
  • About you:
  • B.S. or M.S. Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of work experience in a related field
  • Proven project management skills and the ability to take initiative and see projects through to completion on deadline
  • Experience building relationships and influencing stakeholders across multiple disciplines
  • Experience in privacy principles or technologies: data discovery, tagging, classification, and inventory; data obfuscation techniques (encryption, pseudonymization, tokenization); and data anonymization.
  • Experience with concepts and practices such as threat modeling, data anonymization and classification, auditing access to data, and review of requests for data access
  • Technologies used:
  • Python and Go
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS), Kubernetes, and Kafka
  • Splunk, Databricks, and Vector
  • We're looking for more growth-minded and collaborative contractors to be a part of our journey in democratizing finance for all. If you're ready to give 100% in helping us achieve our mission—we'd love to see you apply even if you feel unsure about whether you meet every single requirement in this posting. At Robinhood, we're looking to partner with people invigorated by our mission, values, and drive to change the world, not just those who simply check off all the boxes.

Robinhood is dedicated to building a company that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. We believe that the more inclusive we and our business partners are, the better our work (and work environment) will be for everyone. Additionally, Robinhood provides reasonable accommodations for candidates on request and respects applicants' privacy rights.
