The Electrified Systems Engineering (ESE) organization is responsible for delivering the best fuel economy and refined Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid and Battery Electric vehicles in every segment in which we contend. Responsibilities

  • Work with high voltage power electronics design teams to develop EMC robust products including power conversion electronics (e.g. chargers, DC/DC converters), High voltage (HV) battery controls and traction motor inverters.
  • Perform product design reviews to assure EMC best practices (PCB layout, power signal integrity, filtering etc.) are incorporated into the product design. Use analytical and numerical tools to support these actions.
  • Conduct and leverage benchmark data of the competitor product designs to assure that robust and cost-effective design practices are always being implemented
  • Develop EMC product test plans to assure the design fully meets corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Diagnose root cause of EMC compliance issues. Work with product design teams to develop mitigation actions.
  • Research industry and university advancements in product EMC design and simulation. Collaborate with Ford research teams on advanced numerical analysis technique
  • Qualifications

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering or related field
  • 4+ years in automotive power electronics with demonstrated experience in product design for EMC
  • 4+ years in desigining for HV power semiconductors
  • 4+gate drive circuitry design and applied best practices
  • 3+ experience with simulation tools such as Matlab/Similink
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiar with PCB layout for minimizing stray inductance/capacitance, power/signal plane partitioning and component placement all to optimize EMC design.
  • Familiar high voltage power semiconductors (Si/SiC/GaN MOSFET's, Diodes) and associated parasitic effects on their EMI characteristics.
  • Familiar with theory and application of magnetics (inductors, transformers) and capacitors (Electrolytic, film and Ceramic) used for power conversion.
  • Knowledge of gate drive circuitry design and applied best practices
  • Proficiency with basic EE tools (Oscilloscopes, Network analyzers, Signal Generators etc.).
  • Demonstrated proficiency with one or more numerical simulation tools including MATLAB, SIMULINK, FEKO, CST, EMCoS and ANSYS HFSS
  • Familiar with automotive, industrial and residential standards (ISO, IEC, CISPR). Awareness of automotive regulatory standards including ECE Regulation 10 and Canada ICES-002.
