Responsibilities

What you'll do

Design and Release for powertrain components including exhaust and emissions control features for future Ford Performance vehicles. Requires a minimum of 6 years' experience with an intimate understanding of exhaust aftertreatment system chemistry, function, and durability, with an emphasis on extremely high-performance internal combustion engine (ICE) products.

Position also includes responsibility for air intake, front axle, rear axle, front half shaft, integrated wheel end disconnects, front driveshaft, rear driveshaft, and other powertrain components. D&R engineer is the single point of contact for all aspects of the part design. D&R must be fully competent with a minimum of 6 years' experience using Ford system systems such as FMA, FEDE, SWT, AIMS, WERS, and other relevant tools and processes.

Provide in person support the testing, prototype builds, and launch builds of upcoming Ford Performance vehicles at assembly plants and test facilities. Must have strong problem-solving skills based on Six Sigma tools and processes and have 4+ years' experience solving difficult cross functional issues related to exhaust after treatment systems. Must be willing to support Ford and supplier plant manufacturing issues with short notice and reprioritized roles & responsibilities.

Interface & lead discussions daily with other D&R engineers, attribute teams, suppliers, and management to ensure parts comply with required specifications and critical decisions are made efficiently.

Must have 6 plus years' experience delivering exhaust aftertreatment systems and other powertrain components that meet program targets for quality, function, cost, weight, and timing.

Qualifications

You'll have

Bachelors in Mechanical or Automotive Systems Engineering or related field of study

6+ years of experience in Powertrain component Design and Release required.

Excellent written and oral presentation skills required.

6+ years of experience with exhaust catalyst after treatment systems, including function, validation, problem solving, etc. for high flow applications (700hp+) This includes a strong understanding of emissions control features and how they interface with other vehicle systems.

6+ years' experience with active mode exhaust systems including troubleshooting actuators using an ATS Box & working closely with NVH personnel to eliminate noise failure modes.

Air Intake: 3+ years' experience with expertise in high flow velocity air induction system to meet engine power output requirement for high output Ford Performance engines.

Candidate must be a self-starter with ability to deliver results and overcome obstacles in a dynamic working environment, with minimal direction.

Even better, you may have

Must have significant experience Ford PD systems and processes: WERS, FEDEBOM, FEDE, GPDS, SWT, AIMS, Teamcenter, CATIA, etc. Must be competent in these systems to a degree that the person can teach other people.

Significant experience with D&R of other powertrain components and systems such as, but not limited to front axle, rear axle, front driveshaft, rear driveshaft.

Experience with program management tool Microsoft Project to develop Gantt Charts for program timeline, DV-PV, milestones, and deliverables desired.

Experience with Diagnostic Engineering Tools/PT Diag using MyCanic FD, CANAlyzer, ATI Vision, etc. to evaluate and analyze vehicle software issues desired.

Ford Performance is a small team of dedicated engineers who turn mainstream Ford vehicles into extraordinary performance machines on accelerated timelines, with limited resources.

Occasional travel may be required to support vehicle development and supplier reviews. In-person work required to support vehicle builds and testing & development.
