Your Role and Responsibilities :

IBM Research at Albany, NY is looking for a Hardware Development Engineer to support the development of one-time-programmable electrical fuses (OTP eFuse) and other passive back-end-of-line (BEOL) technology elements integrated into next-generation advanced CMOS technology nodes.

The responsibilities for this position include:• Research, development, and qualification of new one-time programmable (OTP) memory elements, Precision Resistors, MIMCAPs, and other for advanced technology nodes.• Definition and down-selection of an industry-standard OTP and Passives for a given technology node.• Refining the OTP fuse and Passives design in accordance with new technology process assumptions, reliability requirements, and future product- design needs.• Close collaboration with process integration and module teams to ensure that the device performance is aligned with evolving CMOS process development.• Definition of electrical test structures for passive device characterization.• Close collaboration with characterization and reliability teams to fully characterize design candidates, enable selection of final version, and to define and help implement testing, stressing for evaluation and qualification.• Device simulations to determine OTP and support device sizing for incorporation into product designs.• Documentation of final OTP and Passives designs and specifications in Design Manuals (DM) and product development kits (PDK).• Exploration of future OTP and Passives designs, and benchmarking innovation in the industry to enable innovative leading-edge development.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Strong background in electrical engineering, (device) physics, or similar.• Experience accessing and working with external databases and other web-based resources to systematically search for publications of related art / innovation.• Basic familiarity with CMOS design and CMOS process flows• Basic experience with layout using industry-standard tools such as Synopsys, and with simulation software tools such as TCAD, Spice.• Basic experience in analyzing large amounts of data using standard tools and programming languages such as JMP, SAS, Python, or similar tools.• Basic experience with electrical test and test concepts, probe stations and parametric analyzers such as Keithley.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

1+ years of experience with CMOS design and CMOS process flows.• 1+ years of experience with layout using industry-standard tools such as Synopsys.• 1+ years of experience with simulation software tools such as TCAD, Spice.• 1+ years of experience in analyzing large amounts of (electrical) data using standard tools and programming languages such as JMP, SAS, Python, or similar tools.• 1+ years of experience with electrical test and test concepts, probe stations and parametric analyzers such as Keithley.

For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
