Your Role and Responsibilities

Hybrid Work - You only need to be on-site 2-3 days per week, and can work from home the other days.

Seeking a talented, versatile big data software engineer with DOD/DOJ Top Secret level clearance to join a high paced team working on cutting-edge technology. The developer will be part of a small agile team building a big data pipeline, AI/ML-based analytics capabilities, and user interfaces for government customers. This project includes highly innovative work focused on leveraging AI/ML to discover patterns and develop insights across multiple networks and devices to include IoT and 5G. Work is conducted in conjunction with world-renowned scientist and engineers at IBM Research. The team is fast- paced, collaborative, and cohesive, and depends on team members to communicate openly and to design solutions and deliver quality code on a regular, aggressive clip.


As a Data Scientist at IBM, you will help transform our clients' data into tangible business value by analyzing information, communicating outcomes and collaborating on product development. Work with Best in Class open source and visual tools, along with the most flexible and scalable deployment options. Whether it's investigating patient trends or weather patterns, you will work to solve real world problems for the industries transforming how we live.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise • US Citizen with active DOD/DOJ/IC Top Secret Level security clearance required on Day 1 • Experience installing, configuring Linux based operating systems and implementing security hardening process in container-based systems. • Demonstrated hands-on experience configuring and operating container-based systems such as Kubernetes, Docker and/or OpenShift. • Demonstrated hands-on experience with Python and/or Java.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience • TS//SCI with CI or FSP polygraph (current within 5 years) strongly preferred • 3+ years of experience installing, configuring SELinux systems and implementing security hardening process in container-based systems on classified government networks. • 3+ years of demonstrated hands-on experience configuring and operating container-based systems such as Kubernetes, Docker and/or OpenShift on classified government networks. • 3+ years of demonstrated hands-on experience with Python and/or Java on classified government networks. • 1+ years of experience managing DevOps in cloud based, high performance compute, or bare metal server environments on classified government networks. • 1 + years designing and implementing Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Ansible, or Maven on classified government networks. • 1+ years of experience installing and managing software on a high-performance compute environment. • 1+ years of experience with network data (IP traffic), internet protocols, telecommunications data • 1+ years of experience with Bro/Zeek, TShark/PyShark, nfstream or other network analysis tools • Demonstrated interest and/or experience with AI/ML, including data management and algorithm development, evaluation and optimization • Self- starter with an ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment including on government site • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analysis skills.

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job- related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
