ADAS Principal Embedded Software Technical Program Manager

The Advance Driver Assistance Technology (ADAS) team develops state-of-the- art software and algorithms to deliver best-in-class features like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and 360 camera systems. ADAS also developed Ford's industry-first Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, securing over 60 patents in the process. The team is responsible for the full end-to-end delivery of these features into production on all Ford vehicle lines.

We are seeking a diligent, detail-driven professional to provide vital expertise in support of our Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Embedded Software development activities. This involves applying Technical Program Management engineering principles and analytical techniques in support of delivering embedded platform software for the next generation of ADAS ECU.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

  • Partner with key stakeholders to define, scope, prioritize, and deliver major ADAS software initiatives that span multiple teams and multiple organizations across Ford.
  • Understand the needs of stakeholders across the product development organization and influence as appropriate to achieve alignment on the prioritized initiatives
  • Apply technical project planning, management, and leadership for the development and delivery of ADAS Embedded Software (hand coded or MBD- based)
  • Apply technical project planning, management, and leadership for the development and delivery of software tooling and/or support software to advance ADAS product development
  • Implement and execute roadmaps, schedules, project plans, and resourcing plans to enable ADAS to meet customer commitments across all customer constituencies
  • Lead team members on modern, world-class, software development practices, and precise execution of a technical plan (including management of milestone progress, dependency tracking, risk management, and risk mitigation)
  • Interface with and lead cross functional teams - Systems, Software, Feature, Suppliers, Manufacturing, V&V, Quality to define and drive development plans, ensuring on time SW delivery with highest quality
  • Partner with technical development leaders to create symbiotic relationships that showcase high value in technical leader/TPM matched- pairing through delivery velocity
  • Utilize technical knowledge and capabilities to assist technical leaders and engineers in resolving dependencies and issues with stakeholders
  • Help to resolve technical issues or, at a minimum, lead the forum where solution options are discussed and drive to a conclusion
  • Elevate the visibility of the team - provide regular "push" updates through wiki, Slack, Teams, email, and other communication mediums
  • Communicate and present project status to a broad stakeholder and leadership community, highlighting schedule risks and developing recovery plans in the event of project slips
  • Proactively utilize work management tools - Wiki, JIRA, Project Management Tools - to make plans and status visible to leadership and to provide strategic planning options/contingencies
  • Qualifications

    You will have

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or similar related technical field
  • 7+ years working experience in product or feature development on hardware, software, and/or services
  • 5+ years leading technical projects globally
  • Expertise with modern work management tools (ex. JIRA)
  • Expertise with modern Product Development software development practices
  • Strong background in embedded software development
  • Even better, you may have

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or similar related technical field
  • 10+ years working experience in product or feature development on hardware, software, and/or services
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines (engineering, product, design, testing, quality, etc.) on high complexity projects throughout the entire product lifecycle
  • Expert knowledge of Agile development methods and application
  • Mastery of technical plan development (task identification, task breakdown, timing) for consumption at multiple leadership levels of the organization
  • Proven ability to communicate program information to various leadership and stakeholder levels of the organization (written and verbal)
